In This Room . . . (my home office) I love that I am surrounded by things people have made / purchased specifically for me — the things that make it uniquely MY space =).
I Am Thankful . . . for my health. Even when I’m not feeling up to par, there are still more things I *can* do than cannot, and I do not take that for granted, at all.
From The Kitchen . . . I finally got around to cutting up that watermelon that’s been in the fridge since last week ;-), and I took the fruit out of the crisper drawer and put it in glass bowls on the fridge shelves so we can easily SEE what’s fresh and eat it before it’s not-so-fresh!
I Am Creating . . . nothing at this very moment (I’ve been doing lots of reading and lots of paperwork instead), but I want to pull out my new drawing book later today and see what happens.
I Am Reading . . . nothing!! I finished book #5 in the Game of Thrones series last night and am now at loose ends. I’m thinking I’ll opt for The Hobbit next since it’ll be coming to the big screen in December.
A Series I Am Watching . . . is Flashpoint. It’s been in my Netflix Instant Queue for a while and I watch a couple episodes here and there, when I’m wanting a break from sci-fi. I’m partway through Season 3.
I Am Hearing . . . “This Is Country Music,” by Brad Paisley (playing on my computer at this very moment). I seldom listen to country music these days, but I do love me some Brad! My favorite song on this album is “Old Alabama,” which features the band Alabama, which was one of my favorite bands back in the day — lots of specific, good, memories tied to some of their songs. Really, though, any song featuring Brad Paisley on guitar and/or singing is a hit with me.
Around The House . . . all the indoor plants are sparkly, after being taken outdoors this morning and given a good misting before it got too hot out there.
One Of My Favorite Things . . . is that moment right before I wake my son in the mornings, when I look at him and see in his sleeping face glimpses of the little boy he used to be. And that moment after I wake him, when he smiles, tells me “good morning”, and gives me a hug. I love that he still prefers for me or his dad to wake him rather than using an alarm clock — those are the little things that create memories I hold so dear. It will be all too soon before there is no longer a kiddo in this house to awaken, and he has a lifetime ahead in which he can be awakened by an alarm clock!
Three Things I’ve Bookmarked Recently . . . (1) Tutorial re: how to strip & refinish a table top (a to-do for when cooler weather arrives); (2) Erica’s blog post re: list of allowed ingredients in “organic” foods (blog post written from the perspective of those who need to avoid corn and corn derivatives for health reasons); and (3) Drawing Saudade blog (“a doodle a day”).
Here Is A Picture . . . of our hens going to town with the watermelon rinds I gave them earlier today (I made sure to leave plenty of “meat” on the rind for them!):
